Union Learning Representatives (ULRs) are helping to give people the skills and knowledge to improve their lives at work and beyond. They are making a real difference in workplaces up and down the country, raising the profile of training and development by providing advice, encouragement and information to members about a range of learning opportunities. 

This essential course for ULRs introduces the role and provides the tools and knowledge needed to carry out tasks and duties.

Who is this interactive course for?

This course is for newly appointed union learning reps (ULRs). ULRs are specialist reps who provide advice, encouragement and information to members about learning opportunities that can help them improve their lives at work and beyond.  

How will this help me?

This course will help you:

  • understand the role of a ULR
  • establish your role as part of the union
  • use surveys and mapping to Identify learning needs 
  • promote the value of training and learning to union members
  • arrange training and learning opportunities 
  • consult with your employer about training and learning.
How do I complete it?

All you need is an internet-enabled mobile device (a phone or tablet) or a computer. Do as little or as much as you like each time you log on — your progress will always be saved. Next time you log on just pick up where you left off, this one will take you about 8 hours to complete.
