Dr Mandy James has recently joined TUC Cymru as Bilingual Communications Officer leading on Welsh Language policy, services and developments as well as support for affiliated unions across Wales. Throughout her career, Mandy has led and supported many learning providers within FE, HE and WBL with their Welsh Language Provision and held Welsh Language development roles for the Centre for Medical Education in the Cardiff University School of Medicine and as Researcher for the School of Welsh in Cardiff University.

Mandy also has over 30 years’ experience in a number of leadership and management roles in education and business in Wales including heading up City & Guilds as National Manager Wales and then as Senior Manager Strategy Planning and Strategic Relationships working across Wales and England. Mandy has been a member of numerous Welsh Government Education related Committees, led the City & Guilds National Advisory Committee and acted as Deputy Chair of the Federation of Awarding Bodies in Wales. Mandy has also been a Research Fellow for the University of South Wales and Research Consultant for Creative & Cultural Skills and NCfE.

Mandy has been an independent Non-Executive Director and Trustee of the WJEC CBAC Limited Board of Directors since 2018 and also a member of the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales’ Gorsedd of Bards since 2001.
