Bringing together reps from unions across the UK, Unionreps Connect 2022 offers learning sessions, training workshops and collaborative spaces for both new and experienced workplace representatives.

What are the big issues facing workplaces and unions? How can union reps best support their members?

This one day event will give advice and support on everyday issues including employment law, health and safety, organising, union learning and equality. It’s also an excellent opportunity for you to network and make new connections. We’ll have a packed programme featuring presentations from employment rights specialists, interactive workshops with TUC policy experts and discussions with inspirational union reps.

Shelly Shelly Asquith Health, Safety and Wellbeing Officer, TUC
As the TUC’s lead on health and safety, Shelly has been responsible for unions' response to the Covid outbreak. Shelly has also developed strategies to tackle workplace mental health and stress and ran a high-profile campaign to change the law on maximum working temperatures.
Miriam Dr Miriam Fine Medical Educator and Coach
Miriam is a Personal Development and Healthcare Quality Improvement Coach. She has worked in medical education for the past nine years, specialising in communication skills, Miriam is a member of the UCU and a former Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London Medical School. www.miriamfine.com
Anthony Anthony Hayes Digital Campaigner - TUC
Anthony is the TUC's Digital Campaigner responsible for developing new digital tactics for union organising and campaigning. Anthony’s use of peer-to-peer SMS has helped unions including UCU, RMT and CWU to beat ballot thresholds.
Paul Paul Nowak, Deputy General Secretary - TUC
Paul is currently Deputy General Secretary of the TUC and will become General Secretary Designate at Congress this September, before officially taking the post in January 2023. Paul joined the TUC in 2001. He was appointed Deputy General Secretary in 2016.
Jo Jo Seery, Thompsons Solicitors - Professional Support Lawyer
Jo is a highly experienced senior employment rights solicitor. Jo assists and advises unions on their strategic approach to employment law and industrial relations. Before joining Thompsons, Jo worked for a number of unions, including ASLEF, GPMU and BIFU.
Rebecca Rebecca Sixsmith-Hughes, Building BME Networks Project Officer- TUC
Rebecca is leading on the TUC’s new project to find the movement’s next generation of workplace representatives. Before joining the TUC, Rebecca was a Unite branch chair representing British Airways cabin crew at Gatwick before becoming a full time official for UNISON.
Wilf Wilf Sullivan, Race Equality Officer - TUC
Wilf has worked at the TUC since 2004 leading on race equality policy inside and outside the trade union movement. Before joining the TUC, Wilf worked with young people involved with the criminal justice system and in personnel dealing with recruitment and equal opportunities monitoring.
