This astonishing new law means that workers who democratically support strike action could be ordered into work by their bosses – and sacked if they fail to turn up.

The draconian legislation allow ministers to impose minimum service levels to be fulfilled during strikes on services in six sectors. Employers can then name workers they want to cross picket lines to satisfy it.
