Problems, frustrations, and divisive opinions are a reality in many workplaces. For union reps, these can be challenging—but they are also opportunities to build solidarity, strengthen relationships, and demonstrate the value of union action and involvement.
This three-day in-person course equips union reps with the understanding, confidence, and practical tools needed to recognise and respond constructively when tensions, frustrations, or difficult viewpoints arise among members or colleagues.
This course includes practical exercises, discussions, and role-play scenarios, and looks at how frustrations and divisions can emerge in the workplace, why they sometimes escalate, and how reps can respond in ways that uphold union values, while building key skills.
By the end of the course, reps will have developed strategies for handling difficult conversations, supporting members effectively, and turning moments of tension into opportunities for organising and collective action.
