PCS members at the National Gallery began all-out strike action on Tuesday 11 August, opposing the outsourcing of more than 400 Gallery Assistant jobs.
Management at the National Gallery awarded Securitas, a security and services company, with preferred bidder status this week.
PCS members at the National Gallery have supported more than 50 days of strike action since February. This Tuesday, at the beginning of the all-out strike action, members at the Gallery held their largest strike meeting to date. SERTUC attended the demonstration outside the Gallery.
SERTUC visited the strikers again on Wednesday 12 August when members of Equity's London Branch joined a protest with their Branch Banner and union flags, as a gesture of unity and solidarity in the creative and arts sector.
Other union Branches are 'adopting days', including from local government and the university and college sector.
The PCS is urging the National Gallery's new Director, Dr Gabriele Finaldi, to meet with it as a matter of urgency.
The PCS has urged unions, union members and the general public to support its campaign.
