Solidarity with unions in Myanmar

It is more than three and a half years since Myanmar's military launched a coup that has seen the country divided ever since. Unions, committed to restoring Myanmar's democracy, are working inside and outside the country to hinder the dictatorship. Khaing Zar, from the country's main trade union centre the CTUM, has been tireless in her efforts to persuade western companies to pull out of Myanmar, and to punish the country's military government for its abuses of fundamental workers' rights through the International Labour Organisation.

She addressed the TUC Global fringe event, "For Democracy", in Brighton on September 9, and here makes the case again.
