About this resource

Artificial intelligence, surveillance, and worker data are being used to develop systems that automate worker management and squeeze more productivity. But the negative impacts on workers can be severe.

Who is this interactive learning for?

This piece of learning is for union reps and members who want to know about the impact that artificial intelligence is having in the workplace and who would like to support unions in negotiating agreements on this issue.

How will this help me?

This learning will:

  • introduce you to the digital systems being used to manage workers
  • detail the harms and benefits artificial intelligence may bring
  • show you how to explain the issues to others and prepare you to support your union in negotiating agreements on this issue.

How do I complete it?

All you need is an internet-enabled mobile device (a phone or tablet) or a computer. Do as little or as much as you like each time you log on — your progress will always be saved. Next time you log on just pick up where you left off, this one will take you just over 30 minutes to complete.

Will I get anything for doing this?

Upon completion of this piece of learning, you will receive a digital credential as proof. This will be sent to you via email (from the TUC via Acclaim), so please keep a look out for it.

A digital credential is evidence that you have completed this piece of learning. You can share your credential with your union colleagues or employer to show them what you know.
