Commenting on analysis published by the Labour Party today (Monday), which shows that the Conservatives are on course to hand out £100bn in tax breaks and corporate giveaways by 2023/24, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“We need a government focused on helping working families, not billionaire donors.

“At a time when millions are struggling to make ends meet the Conservatives’ handouts to corporations and the super-rich are an insult to working people.

“This money could have been spent on new Sure Start centres and tackling child poverty. It shouldn’t have been wasted on tax breaks for big business and the wealthy.”

TUC analysis published today shows that 800,000 more children are growing up in poverty in working households than in 2010.
