Commenting on the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory in Bangladesh, which has claimed the lives of over 200 workers, TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady today (Thursday) said:

'This appalling loss of life proves that, in the global race to the bottom on working conditions, the finishing line is Bangladesh.

'Unions in Bangladesh have put forward a plan to tackle the textile industry's terrible record on health and safety and workers' rights. Governments and the big UK brands should not rest until they've played their part in implementing it.'
