Responding to the report on the government’s industrial strategy published today (Friday) by the Business Committee, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“The government’s industrial strategy is a work in progress, and it is vital that ministers take on board the committee’s view that it needs to be more joined-up, and backed by higher investment in infrastructure.

“We welcome the committee’s recognition that a strong mechanism for dialogue and collaboration with trade unions is crucial. Unions are keen to work in partnership with government and business to make industrial strategy a success. The government’s plans must include a clear framework for joint decision-making in the long term, with a focus on better quality jobs and higher living standards.”
