Commenting on details of future funding for adult further education and skills, confirmed in a letter today (Thursday) from the Secretary of State for Business Investment and Skills to the Skills Funding Agency, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“There are few places where cuts are more damaging to our future economic strength than further education. By cutting investment in adult skills the government is pulling the rug from under the feet of British businesses that want to compete at the leading edge of the global economy.

“What’s needed is really very simple – if we put the investment into skills and FE colleges today, we will have a stronger economy with better paid jobs tomorrow.”
