Workers and Machines newsletter

Sign up for Workers and Machines: a newsletter on tech and AI, brought to you by the TUC, for the British labour movement, allies and anyone interested.

The labour movement has always dealt with technology — from ‘the machinery question’ of the early 19th century, through mass production and early waves of computerisation. Then as now, unions and the wider labour movement are an essential counterweight to the powerful (and often narrow) interests of the tech industry. Our task is to build a technological future that is pro-worker.

Every month, Workers and Machines will curate authoritative, accessible and actionable insights. 2026 is shaping up to be a big year, with a push by corporations and governments alike for widespread adoption of AI. We’re here to cut through the noise and focus on what matters for workers.

We also want to hear from you — whether that's campaigns and events worth sharing, feedback, or issues you think we should focus on. Please do get in touch, email workersandmachines@tuc.org.uk.

Forward this to anyone who may be interested, or share the newsletter sign up link here.
