Workers are only entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), which are subject to qualifying rules, unless your employer pays contractual sick pay in excess of this, which many employers do.

Your contract of employment or separate statement of employment particulars must contain details of your sick pay entitlement, or refer you to an easily accessible document that sets out those terms.

Even in the absence of a clear written term, there may be an 'implied' term entitling certain grades of employee to payment during sickness.

If your sick pay entitlement is unclear, ask your line manager to clarify it or speak to your union rep.
