2017 marks the end of President Rafael Correa’s 10 year (2 x 5 year) term of office. He is succeeded by fellow AP leader Lenín Moreno. Arguably, the right wing resurgence in Latin America ends here!

The decade of Correa is known as the Revolución Ciudadana (Citizens’ Revolution). Moreno is set to continue and expand social programmes introduced under Correa, for whom Lenin served as vice president from 2007 to 2013, before working as the UN special envoy for Disability and Accessibility.Spanish speakers can check out the achievements of the decade of Citizens’ Revolution HERE

Adrian WeirUnite Assistant Chief of Staff, was in Ecuador recently attending events to mark the end of the Correa presidency and will speak about the Citizens’ Revolution at the SERTUC International Committee.
