Overview

We are pleased to extend an invitation to all Trades Council officers and activists, and those interested in learning more about the important role of trades councils,

As many activists from a trades councils that wish to join in and contribute to the discussion may do so. It is our firm intention that at least half the time will be devoted to questions and contributions. The meeting will be participatory.

Trades councils are often on the front-line of campaigning in communities. The coming months will be hugely important for the trade union movement in the community with key issues such as:

  • Building stronger community alliances.
  • Organising against the far right.
  • Publicising the positive role of unions and maximising the gains from the new Employment Rights Act, including banning abusive Zero Hours Contracts.
  • Exposing the detriment suffered by outsourced workers and organising with them.
  • The cost of living and what can be done about 'rip-off' privatised utility companies.
  • Trade union led responses to the climate emergency.
  • Devolution of power and budgets.
  • Decent Homes for All campaigns.
  • And more!

The meeting is being organised with the active support of Andrew Coburn, TUCJCC rep for the East of England, and Munir Malik, TUCJCC rep for London and the South East of England.

We invite every trades council to join in the conversation, so join us and have your say.
