For the first time ever, the TUC South West have developed an exciting and unique training opportunity for a group of young trade union members to participate in our Aspiring Leaders Programme.
The course will bring union-sponsored participants together to learn about and develop their skills to help them become the leaders and activists of tomorrow.
The Programme will include:
Opportunities and workshops to develop a wide understanding of the issues affecting workers - from exploitative 'internships' and zero hour contracts, to minimum wage theft and harassment at work.
Workshops on effective organising, modern methods of campaigning and understanding different types of leadership that will culminate into creating their own game-changing campaign launched in November. Participants will also have the chance to build their own voice in an issue affecting workers in modern Britain and raise their profile within the trade union movement.
A five day visit to Kirkel in Germany sponsored by Ver.di, one of the largest unions in Germany. The itinerary will support the Leaders to build international solidarity, but also learn and understand alternative models of trade unionism, engagement and organising training, as well as make comparisons with employment laws that will add much greater depth to the learning Programme. More information will be provided as details are confirmed.
The Programme is open to all young members from TUC affiliated unions.
If you would like to apply for this course, please complete the application form and return to the TUC South West either by email or posted to the TUC South West office.
Please ensure that you confirm sponsorship from your union and/or sponsoring branch prior to sending in your application as we will need the details before we can confirm applicants' success.
