Domestic violence is a prevalent crime. Many workplaces employ someone who has experienced it directly or indirectly. Domestic violence is now more widely understood and employers and trade unions realise that it can also have a damaging effect on business and employee morale. The effects of domestic violence can impact on punctuality, attendance, health and safety, work performance and productivity, as well as job prospects or career development.
Trade unions have a long history of campaigning to overcome inequality, shape reform and implement practices that benefit working people’s lives. By working with employers to introduce workplace policies on domestic violence, trade unions can change attitudes and help people who experience domestic violence to get the support they need.
That is why the Wales TUC supports the White Ribbon Campaign.
