Ritzy cinema workers strike for London Living Wage

Issue date

Ritzy

BECTU members at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton are on strike today (Friday 11 April) as part of their campaign to secure the London Living Wage of £8.80 per hour as a minimum rate of pay. The London Living Wage is the wage rate needed to give a worker in London enough to provide the essentials of life. So trade union members at the Ritzy are asking for nothing more than decency and an end to poverty pay of £7.24 per hour. And their struggle is part of the wider ‘Britain Needs a Pay Rise’ campaign. Workers from the Ritzy will be campaigning outside the cinema in the Plaza in Brixton all day and this evening. Try to join them, send them a message of support or let their employer, Cineworld, know that you support the workers’ struggle for the London Living Wage. SERTUC visited the striking workers this morning and we expressed our best wishes and solidarity in their fight for decent pay.
