We Demand Better - Autumn of Action
Working people have had enough. Everything’s going up but our wages.
Our objectives
It’s time for a new deal for working people. We need a real pay rise for every worker, starting with a £15 minimum wage as soon as possible, and more help with bills. It’s time to protect the right to strike, ban zero hours and end fire and rehire.
Only working people can deliver this change - so this Autumn, we took action.
- Town hall meetings in every region of England and in Wales
Union leaders joined local campaigners at town halls events across the country to discuss how we come together to win a new deal for working people.
- National day of action - Friday 14 October
We delivered action on the cost-of-living crisis and workers’ rights in every constituency in England and Wales. Local activists came together to call for wage rises and a budget that delivers for working people.
- Mass lobby of Parliament - Wednesday 2 November
We took our demands to parliament. Workers spoke to MPs from their constituency about the reality of the cost-of-living crisis for them, and to demand their MP took action to protect the right to strike and get wages rising.
- Rally in Central Hall Westminster - Wednesday 2 November
After we lobbied our MP's, we held a huge rally in Central Hall Westminster. Front line workers and union leaders came together to speak out on how they are fighting for higher pay and fairer treatment at work. Watch footage from the rally below.
The government has failed to deal with the cost-of-living emergency. They sat back while living standards plummeted. And now they prioritise tax cuts for the rich, attacking trade unions and cutting rights at work. That's why we will continue to #DemandBetter.
