At its National Delegate Conference in June UNISON agreed to call on all branches to hold at least one activity aimed at raising the profile of young workers/members during Young Workers Month. UNISON's National Young Members Forum have identified a number of issues that branches could take up, including the minimum wage/living wage, young workers mental health, and housing.
In addition to regional events and activity, UNISON is also running a national competition for members to make a short film about being a union member. They have also confirmed that they'll be re-running their ‘ribbon’ campaign, asking young member activists (and supporters) to wear purple and green young workers month ribbons and send in pictures for use in social media.
There will also be promotion of YWM throughout the month on UNISON's social media accounts.
