How will your MEP vote in crucial TTIP debate?

Issue date

The European Parliament is going to vote soon (maybe as early as 8 June) on a resolution on the controversial TTIP trade agreement between the EU and the US (the Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership).

MEPs won't decide on TTIP directly, but this vote is a crucial opportunity for our elected representatives to tell the European Commission’s negotiators that they must not negotiate trade deals that are bad for working people.

Email your MEP to ask for their support in the vote

We're opposed to TTIP because of the many threats it poses. In particular we're worried it will cost jobs, reduce workplace rights and threaten regulations that protect workers, consumers and the environment.

TTIP could also open up more public services to privatisation and make reversing that more difficult, as well as allow foreign companies to sue governments for actions considered to be against their interests, through the notorious Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS).

It doesn’t have to be this way. The European Parliament vote is our biggest opportunity yet to make our concerns known.

Can you help by writing to your MEP? They need to know their constitutents are watching this resolution and vote closely, and want them to ensure EU trade policy works for the people, not just for private business interests.
