Amy Leversidge

Amy Leversidge is the General Secretary of BALPA, the British Airline Pilots Association representing just over 10,000 commercial airline pilots, helicopter pilots and technical crews across the UK. Amy was elected in January 2024 and is the first woman to hold the position.

Since becoming BALPA’s General Secretary Amy developed and is implementing a strategy to modernise BALPA, including launching an independent review of BALPA’s culture, an independent review of governance, and a staffing restructure to increase the union’s staff by 30%.

Amy was previously Assistant General Secretary at FDA where she led on the union’s campaign to introduce a fully independent process to deal with bullying and harassment in the House of Commons and was previously Employment Relations Advisor at the RCM where she organised the first ever industrial action by midwives in 2014.

Amy has two children and has a masters degree in Human Resource Management and Employment Relations.
