Unemployed Workers Centres

The first TUC Unemployed Workers’ Centre was set up in Newcastle on Tyne in the late 1970s as a response to the rapid rise in unemployment. By the mid-1980s there were nearly 250 TUC centres and were the third biggest advice organisation in the country campaigning for full employment. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
