Commenting on today's (Wednesday) “landmark” trade union recognition agreement between Uber and the GMB, TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady said:

“Gig economy workers deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. This landmark agreement is a huge breakthrough and will give Uber drivers a real voice at work.

“The GMB deserve massive credit for their tireless campaigning. But this deal is just the start.  

“Unions won’t rest until platform companies across the gig economy agree to work with their staff on improving pay and conditions.

“And we need the government to stop dithering and deliver on its promise to strengthen workers’ rights. The failure to bring forward an employment bill in the Queen’s speech was a big missed opportunity.”
