Commenting on today’s (Friday) announcement by Network Rail that Carillion rail staff will have their pay guaranteed until mid-April, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“Rail workers badly need this lifeline. But if we are to protect jobs and livelihoods in the long-term, Network Rail must bring Carillion’s contracts back in house.
“This would provide much-needed certainty for workers. And it would help ensure that key infrastructure projects aren’t delayed.
“There’s no reason why the government can’t make this happen now.”
