Commenting on figures published today (Friday) by the Office for National Statistics on the impact of Covid-19 on Black and minority ethnic (BME) people, Frances O’Grady said:

“These figures confirm the devastating and disproportionate impact coronavirus has had on BME people and communities.

“Ministers must act now to identify and tackle the underlying causes and end the racism that has cost so many lives and blighted many more.

“Government must deliver a comprehensive plan to tackle the inequalities that BME people face across the board, including in work, health, education and justice.”
