Commenting on the publication today (Tuesday) of labour market figures showing that real wages are still £7 lower per week than their pre-crisis peak, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“While todays’ figures on wages and jobs are better news, no worker will be celebrating when the future looks so uncertain.

“Working people are already paying for the prime minister’s disastrous mishandling of Brexit. Economic growth is slowing down, factories are under threat and much-needed investment is being cancelled.

“She must give up on her failed deal and find an alternative that protects jobs, workers’ rights and peace in Northern Ireland.”
