About this Role

UNISON is the UK’s leading public services trade union, with over 1.3 million members working in the public sector, private, voluntary and community sectors and in the energy services. We employ approximately 1,200 staff, with around 370 at our national centre in Euston in central London and the remainder in our 12 regions across the UK, including Northern Ireland.

UNISON is a dynamic, progressive union, committed to equality. We encourage women and men of all ages, Black and minority ethnic groups, disabled people, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people to work with us.

The East Midlands Region is currently recruiting a Team Support Worker, to be based at our busy regional office in Nottingham.

The roles will include the provision of administrative support to staff, lay member committees, and more generally for the team. Candidates must have a good knowledge of committee administration, general office practice and procedures, finance and data systems and procedures. Duties include inputting and extracting data from membership and other data systems, processing financial data and invoices, agenda preparation and committee administration, drafting and producing communications.

You must also have good telephone and communication skills and be able to deal with internal and external queries, including member complaints, and a range of other issues in a sensitive and positive manner. You will also need to be able to work in a team environment.

It goes without saying that you will need excellent administrative, secretarial, communication and ICT skills to succeed, in addition to having the confidence to work on your own initiative, and as part of a team.

An understanding of Trade Unions and their objectives as well as the importance of lay activist education would be an advantage.
