About this Role

UNISON Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Local Government Branch is seeking to appoint a part-time case worker, to provide full access to advice, representation, support and guidance to members of the branch employed within advice, representation, support and guidance to members of the branch employed within the schools, care, local authority trading companies, the Council of the Isles of Scilly, as well the community and voluntary sector. On occasions, there may be a requirement to support members within Cornwall Council.

The successful candidate will bring their experience and skills to the role, undertake case work and be able to support recruitment and organising initiatives and campaigns in our branch.

You will have excellent presentation skills and communication skills, both face-to-face and on paper. A sound understanding of trade unions and their objectives is essential along with a good understanding of UNISON’s policies and objectives would be advantageous. Essential to this role is the ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team.  You must be able to work effectively under pressure and prioritise work.

Whilst the work-base for this role has been specified, you may be required to work remotely (e.g.  from home or other locations). It is a requirement of this post that you are able to travel outside of the office in order to fulfil the role and require access to your own transport to do this.
