The Branch Support & Organising Fund Local Organiser is a new and exciting role designed to support delivery of the union’s organising projects across the region.
UNISON is looking for enthusiastic, flexible, and resourceful individuals to support the Greater London Region with a range of organising projects. Projects will focus on organising, recruitment and building capacity within UNISON branches.
The role will focus principally upon the recruitment and retention of members in key campaign sites, as well as identifying new reps and contributing to campaign activities.
The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in one-to-one communication, problem-solving, persuasion, perseverance, and self-motivation. While previous experience as a recruiter, organiser, or campaigner within a trade union or community organisation is desirable, transferrable skills are also highly valued. Candidates must demonstrate an understanding of our union’s values and objectives.
The successful candidates will need to be flexible with their working hours. Reaching members who work in these environments can be challenging during “office hours” so the successful candidate may be required to work in the evening, early mornings and occasionally at weekends. UNISON has a range of policies to support a healthy work/life balance. Our projects are delivered in workplaces across the whole region, so you will need to be able to travel in and around Greater London.
To apply for this opportunity, please visit the website and download and complete the area/local organiser application form referring to the job description and person specification.
Please note that only the relevant application form will be accepted. CVs will not be accepted.

In-person interviews will be held on Thursday 20 August 2026 at UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London NW1 2AY.
