Responding to Sir Keir Starmer’s speech on Brexit at Chatham House this morning (Monday), TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Keir Starmer’s six tests for a successful Brexit set the bar for judging the government’s negotiations. If Brexit is to be a success, it must be good for Britain’s working people.

“As well as tariff-free, frictionless trade in goods and services, the government needs to make sure workplace rights don’t fall behind those in neighbouring countries. British working people must not become second-class citizens. We need a level playing field for working people.

“We also need to manage migration better, with tougher rules against exploitation and undercutting, good jobs for local people, more training, homebuilding and more money for quality public services.”
