The Dilnot Report: funding social care

TUC Online Seminar

Congress House, Monday 28 November, 12.30 - 2.00

'We believe the recommendations set out clear plans for long term and sustainable reform of social care.' Age UK

'A strong foundation on which to build reform of the social care system' Carers UK

"We welcome the publication of the Dilnot report, as it is clear that our social care system is in need of urgent reform. We now want to see the Government publish a timetable for reform, reflecting the need to act swiftly." RNIB

'Andrew Lansley warns costs of Dilnot reforms need careful consideration', The Guardian, 4 July

In July, the Commission on Funding of Care and Support published Fairer Funding for All, their report on the failings of the current social care system and proposals for reform. Many organisations have welcomed the Commission's proposals, but there are more and more hints that the Government is getting cold feet.

On 28 November, Andrew Dilnot, the Chair of the Commission, will speak about its proposals at a TUC seminar at Congress House.

Speakers -

Andrew Dilnot

Alison Roche, social care officer at UNISON and

Peter Beresford, Director of the Centre for Citizen Participation at Brunel University.

The seminar will run from 12.30 to 2.00 and will be live-streamed with the opportunity to comment and question on-line.

There will also be 20 places available in Congress House, with lunch served from 12.00.
