Staggered hours are where work start and finish times for staff vary to allow appropriate staff coverage and, to some degree, take into account the personal situation of employees.
This by no means offers the same flexibility of choice to employees as flexitime, but can offer some benefit.
For example: One day's hours may run from 8.30 am - 5.00 pm and another 8.45am - 5.15 pm. Lunch breaks may vary between 30 minutes to an hour.
Staggered hours schemes should remain constant and not be shifted around without prior agreement or at short notice.
