Commenting on new figures published today (Thursday) by the Department for Work and Pensions, which show that just three per cent of disabled people have found work so far through the Work Programme, TUC General Secretary Frances O'Grady said:

'Ministers should know better than to try and spin the Work Programme as a huge success. Nearly two years on only one in ten people has found proper work through the scheme - a number that drops to just three in every hundred for disabled people.

'The government's whole approach to helping the unemployed back to work remains flawed. People who lose their jobs need support, not a raft of vicious new welfare policies that will hurt them and their families.'
