Rachaelle Litwin @ Digital Access Project (North East Essex) - North East Essex Digital Access Support Team (NEE DAST) offer a free service that helps you gain basic skills and confidence using today's smart technology. Our team host both virtual and community-based events, including drop-in sessions and one-to-ones. You can also find them providing support at local surgeries. This service is provided to you on behalf of North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group (NEE CCG), Tendring District Council (TDC) and Colchester Borough Council (CBC).

Ruth London, Fuel Poverty Action (FPA) - FPA campaigns to protect people from fuel poverty. We challenge rip-off energy companies and unfair policies that leave people to endure cold homes. We take action for warm, well-insulated homes and clean and affordable energy, under the control of people and communities, not private companies. And we fight for energy and housing that do not harm the climate that we all depend on, as well.

Traditionally, "excess winter deaths" statistics are released at the end of November. So shortly before this meeting FPA will also be highlighting the deaths due to fuel poverty - especially of pensioners and disabled people. "Excess winter deaths" statistics make no logical sense in a pandemic where death rates go up and down for reasons other than the weather. But what does it mean to be trying to survive in a cold home when you have COVID-19? This and other key issues including affordability, housing conditions and changing heating systems will be discussed.

Families must not be left in the cold: Fix the Fuel Poverty Crisis!
