Supporting the launch of a new TUC report on the challenge posed by Jair Bolsonaro to Brazilian democracy, the TUC will be hosting an in-depth discussion into the impact of Bolsonarismo on Brazilian civil society.
The event will consider the effects of Bolsonaro's policies on labour organisation, the natural environment, democratic structures, women, and marginalised groups, including Afro-Brazilians, LGBT people and indigenous communities. The discussion will also highlight the ways in which Brazilian civil society has organised to resist this far right onslaught.
We invite trade unionists, internationalists, and all people interested in the global struggle against the new far right to attend this event to hear a detailed account of the challenge to democracy in Brazil.
Chaired by Nandini Archer (Open Democracy) and with guest speakers:
Catherine West MP, Shadow Minister for Europe and the Americas.
Anatalina Lourenço, National Anti-Racism Secretary, CUT Brazil
Kevin Courtney, TUC General Council International Spokesperson and NEU Joint General Secretary.
Interpretation will be available in Portuguese and English.
