Brexit is a threat to the jobs, investment and trade needed for stronger growth, says TUC
“Falls in manufacturing and construction are a serious concern, keeping growth at a three-year low. The biggest present threat to achieving the stronger economy we need is Brexit, which would put jobs, investment and trade at risk.”

Commenting on the latest GDP figures published today (Wednesday) by the Office for National Statistics, which show overall growth of just 0.4% and falls in manufacturing and construction, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:
“Falls in manufacturing and construction are a serious concern, keeping growth at a three-year low. For all the rhetoric of fixing the roof, it is the foundations of the economy that are being left to crumble.
“A secure economy needs growth across all sectors, with support from public investment. But the biggest present threat to achieving the stronger economy we need is Brexit, which would put jobs, investment and trade at risk.”
