We’re doubly proud that it was for this particular film, as it’s a film that we felt we had to make.
We’re in a moment where many trans and non-binary people feel under siege – attacked in the media, in their communities and in workplaces.
It’s a time when our core trade union values really come into play. At their heart unions are about solidarity - working people standing together, supporting each other. They are also about equality – working together for everyone's rights. Unions have your back at work – we’re there for trans and non-binary workers, just like we’re there for everyone else.
We made the video to support our TUC Congress policy, which unequivocally affirmed our support for trans and non-binary workers’ and peoples’ rights.
If you’d like to find out more how you can help make a more inclusive environment for trans colleagues, we’ve produced some guides that take the video’s themes further.
So we'd like to say a really big thank you to all the judges and Outvertising for recognising this film. And thank you to Sam Nicklin who wrote and directed it, the whole production crew, our actors Kenya Sterling and Tony Turner, and our advisor Tigger Blaize who ensured our portrayal of Liam was accurate.
