Overview

This event:
Climate change means workplace change. In order to meet net zero targets by 2050,  the world of work will transform; for workers, this must mean new opportunities and positive change. It is working people, through their collective union voice, which must drive this transition. Negotiating for new skills through collective bargaining is fundamental to this process.

Do you know enough yet to bargain for green skills? How do you trigger the discussion with colleagues, with your employer? What do you need to know about Welsh Government policy to put you in picture?

Join us at our forthcoming Greener Workplaces Network to learn more.

Keynote speakers:

- Heather Davidson, WG official who is developing on net zero skills plan

- Deri Bevan, policy officer of Wales TUC

- Practical union case study

Who is this event for?

This event will be of particular interest to green/environmental reps and health and safety reps, but will also be relevant for full time officers, branch officials, shop stewards, other reps and all those trade unionists interested in the future of work and the future of the planet. Please share widely with Trade Union colleagues.

About the Greener Workplaces Network

This event is being held as part of the Wales TUC’s Greener Workplaces Network. This is a relatively new network that has been set up to support trade union reps who want to promote greener workplaces and make a just transition to a net zero future. Join us for this friendly and supportive network to learn more and have your say.

The group will meet online every other month. Each meeting will feature guest speakers to explore different topics, provide an opportunity for reps to network and share good practice and include updates from the Wales TUC and our union family.

This is your network, so join us for this event and let us know your thoughts on how to shape our future, please email swaihongho@tuc.org.uk Stanley Ho from the Wales TUC with your suggestions for future discussion.

If you’d like more ideas and information about what unions are doing to create greener workplaces, download our Greener Workplaces for a Just Transition toolkit here and visit our campaign page where you'll find campaign videos and more information.
