Our right to strike is under attack.
The UK Parliament is currently debating a Bill which means that when workers democratically vote to strike, they could be forced to work and sacked if they don’t. That’s wrong, unworkable, and almost certainly illegal.
What’s more, the Bill shouldn’t apply to Wales. This Bill is about the delivery of public services – which is a matter for our Senedd.
These new laws are a direct attack on working people’s fundamental right to strike to defend their pay, terms and conditions.
Write to your MP: Protect the right to strike
Responding to the UK Government's proposed new legislation Wales TUC General Secretary Shavanah Taj said:
"This is an attack on the right to strike. It’s an attack on working people. And it’s an attack on one of our longstanding British liberties.
“Trade unions will fight this every step of the way. We’re inviting every worker – public and private sector, and everyone who wants to protect our liberties - to be a part of our campaign to defend the right to strike.”
