Understanding the role of unions in the workplace is extremely important for young people as they embark on their working lives.
Trade unions have worked in social partnership with the Welsh Government to launch a pilot for the Unions and the World of Work programme.
The pilot aims to provide teachers with high quality resources that focus on key elements of modern trade unionism, young people’s rights at work and the benefits of being in a trade union. This is a timely pilot as Careers and Work-Related Experience (CWRE) is a key and cross-cutting theme for the new curriculum in Wales.
These resources can be delivered as stand-alone lessons or used in a cross-curricular way. The materials are aimed at year 10 upwards. As part of the pilot, Wales TUC will be able to provide experienced trade unionists to attend schools as a guest speaker.
