Managing workplace change in the public sector

Public bodies sometimes change the way they deliver public services. This can have an impact on workers’ pay, terms and conditions. When public funding is limited, decisions might be taken to cut services, which can lead to major changes in services and the workplace. Changes can lead to redundancies and changes to terms and conditions. The Wales TUC and the public sector unions negotiated the Partnership and Managing Change agreement. The agreement helps ensure the voices of workers are taken on board before changes take place.

The menopause in the workplace - Wales TUC Cymru

The Wales TUC has a positive relationship with workplace reps across Wales. Through consultations with these reps, we discovered that workplaces were not tackling certain issues in a way that helped workers. One of those issues was menopause. To tackle this issue Wales TUC has launched a joint campaign with the Women’s Equality Network Wales (WEN Wales).

Disability and ‘hidden’ impairments in the workplace

The Wales TUC carried out this research to better understand attitudes towards and experiences of disability in the workplace in Wales, including those of workers with ‘hidden’ or non-visible impairments. The research gathered statistical evidence as well as the stories of disabled workers to give voice to those experiences.

The Menopause: a workplace issue - Wales TUC

This report is based on a major survey of almost 4000 workers, found that 88% of women workers who've experienced the menopause felt it has an effect on working life, while around 6 in 10 had witnessed the issue being treated as a joke in the workplace. The survey also showed that only a very small number of workplaces have policies in place to support women who experience difficulties during the menopause.
