Delay to pension auto-enrolment is deeply disappointing
Commenting on the new timetable for the staging of auto-enrolment, announced today (Wednesday) in a written ministerial statement, TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber said:
Thousands of northern region workers and trade unions taking to the streets for Pensions Justice
Thousands of workers across the North East and Cumbria will be showing their support for Pensions Justice and joining in with one of the four regional March and rallies across the region on Pensions Day of Action, November 30th.
As well as independent pickets all over the region, workers and trade unionists will be coming together in co-ordinated action in Newcastle-Gateshead, Middlesbrough, Carlisle and Whitehaven.
Northern region trade unions gearing up for Pensions Day of Action
The Northern Public Services Alliance and Trade Unions across the whole of the northern region will be out in force on Action Saturday, 19th November, building support and giving out vital information about pensions and why the unions involved are taking industrial action, ahead of the national Day of Action on 30th November.

An eighty year old pensioner with an average public sector pension would be more than £650 a year worse off if the budget change to the indexing of pensions had been in force since their retirement, according to new calculations from the TUC released today (Wednesday).
