In his speech to Congress Amirul Haque Amin, President of the National Garment Workers' Federation, has called for solidarity for Bangladeshi workers.
Speaking about the Rana Plaza tragedy, which killed 1,133 people and injured hundreds, Amirul urged the eight multinational companies that have not yet signed up to a a widely-backed safety plan for Bangladesh to do so. Matalan, River Island, and Republic are amongst those yet to sign up to the Bangladesh Fire and Building Safety Accord.
To show solidarity for the workers who risk their lives in dangerous factories to make our clothes, please take action by emailing the 8 UK clothing stores who are refusing to join the safety accord.
