During his speech the Prif Weinidog told the Welsh Trade Union movement that:
“You represent the organised voice of working people across our nation. You fight for fairness, for dignity, for respect. And I want to be clear from the outset: those values are not only shared by this Government – they are embedded in the programme we have been elected to deliver.”
He also stated that:
“As a new administration we are committed to proactively engaging with you {Trade Unions}. Because how we work as a radical and progressive government in facing up to the challenges of the future – will be just as important as the ideas and the proposals we bring forward.
“Social Partnership allows trade unions, government, and employers to work through complex issues and achieve common goals.”
The Prif Weinidog continued by saying:
“Our commitment is to rebuild and renew our public services – not only through investment, but through genuine partnership with the workforce.
That means involving staff and their representatives in decision-making. It means prioritising workforce wellbeing. And it means ensuring that reform is done with workers, not to them.”
TUC Cymru President Laura Doel said:
“We were glad to welcome Prif Weinidog, Rhun ap Iorwerth to address the Welsh trade movement today.
“We look forward to working constructively with the new Welsh Government on our priorities to deliver for working people across Wales”
