Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and to have the chance to be a valued member of the workforce without compromising on family commitments.

Working parents and carers often find it hard to juggle all the competing demands on their time. More women are working and taking shorter breaks after childbirth; there are more single parents working; people are working later in life and are likely to have increased responsibility for the care of elderly dependants.

To ease this pressure we need employers and union reps to work together to find a healthy work life balance.

Union reps can support members to plan changes to their work schedule and work with employers to have a good work life balance that works for both the employer and workforce.
