Supporting workers experiencing miscarriage and pregnancy loss
Pregnancy loss affects a quarter of all pregnancies, many trade union members and workplace reps will have supported someone who has experienced pregnancy loss, and many will have experienced it themselves. The TUC recognises that more needs to be done to support families experiencing pregnancy loss and to close the gap in statutory rights.

Black women's experience of sexual harassment in the workplace
The TUC undertook this research in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London in order to create a space for Black women to share their experiences and inform the work we do to tackle sexual harassment in the workplace. As the voice of more than 5.5 million working people, we have an obligation to ensure that our movement is responding to the biggest challenges working people face.

TUC Equalities Campaign Plan 2024 – 2026
Our Equality Campaign Plan provides affiliates with details of the overarching narrative for the work that we do to challenge inequality in the workplace and covers our work on Black workers, women, disabled workers, young workers and LGBT+ workers. The priorities outlined here have been identified by our democratic structures and through our statutory conferences and are set out in the context of the driving aims of the TUC running until 2026.

Equal pay day 2024 – tackling the gender pay gap
There are many drivers of the pay gap ranging from socio-cultural and structural to workplace practice, to policy interventions. Closing the gap will require effort and measures from government, employers, unions, and wider civil/ society. We set out analysis of the pay gap as well as main drivers of the gap and specific recommendations to tackle the pay gap [and relatedly equal pay] as well as some broader recommendations.

Like the pandemic and over a decade of austerity, it is exacerbating the existing structural inequalities women face, leaving them less insulated from its impacts. This risks not only stifling any progress towards women’s economic and social equality but sending it into reverse.

Women’s experiences in the workplace and the impact on their health, cannot be separated out from the discrimination and inequality women face more broadly in the labour market and across society. Our response therefore highlights specific challenges faced by women in the workplace and recommendations of how to tackle them, as well as highlighting broader structural issues that any health strategy for women must seek to address.
