2018 marks the 150th year anniversary of the TUC. From the suffrage struggles in the early 1900's and the right to vote, to the free school movement, the formation of the NHS and even the creation of a political party to represent working people, the TUC and the trade unions have been at the heart of change for working people and their families across Britain.
The Durham Miners' Gala is one of the world's biggest working-class festivals and celebrations of community and trade union values. Established in 1871, The Big Meeting, as it is known, was historically paid for by the working miners of the Durham Coalfield
We are inviting trade unionists, activists and trade union friends to come and join us at this memorable bash.
