The TUC welcomes the opportunity to provide evidence to the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s (WYCA) consultation on the ‘minded-to’ devolution deal.

The TUC agrees with the consultation document that a good devolution deal can “unleash our region’s full potential and in doing so raise living standards for our communities while making a full contribution to the UK economy.” But this is not true of just any devolution deal. It must be the right one for workers, and we remain concerned that the current proposals offer a devolution structure that may fail to deliver sustainable and inclusive growth for working people.
